How do I add the subtitle file to the movie??

Hi there, I downloaded a japanese speaking movie that needs english subtites. It came with the file for subs included but I have no idea how to add the subtitles to the film.

I downloaded winrar, but could somebody please talk me through how to add the subtitles i have in the file, to the actual movie?

I really have no clue what I'm doing, i've never done this before and I'm not too great with computers to start off with. I tried playing around with winrar myself but i'm worried I might mess something up so i thought i'd ask you all first. :)
