I do believe this is legal as long as they are charging. I don't think they have any specific laws governing how to charge for mp3 or like formats just making it illegal to get them free. If I'm wrong maybe one of the senior members can clear the air.

Hi bob1903, welcome to aD,

It would be my feeling that you're not on very firm ground dealing with a service like that. You would do better taking your chances and downloading movies yourself and save the $30.00 a month toward your lawyer's fee for when you're caught.

REASON: With today's computers, downloading movies at the rate of 3 or 4 at a time, 24 / 7 could add up to an awful lot of movies per month. Much more than could be covered by paying MPAA their due. With my system I could easily do everything I normally do PLUS download a minamum of 6 to 8 movies per day, perhaps more. (That breaks down to about 240 movies every 30-days. $30.00 per month could in no way cover that :)
I would feel better using a service that requires payment for each movie as songs are done. A site like that is a lot more likely to be doing things correctly and more importantly LEGALLY.

That's my 2-cents,

Pete

Pete's PC:
Pent 4 2.84 GHz
1024b MB RAM
600 + GB of Hard Drive
Broadband connected 24/7
4 Burners, 1 DVD ROM :D)

It's not much BUT it's done well for over the past 2 years.

If you like movies, maybe try Netflix or Blockbuster online, both have 3 at-a-time plans for 17.99, and 14.99 respectively plus fees (~$1)

A slight addition ~

Both NetFlick and BlockBusters are services which send DVD's to your home via mail, when you return one, they send another. You pick what you want sent and in what order. If you turn the DVD's around quickly enough you can expect to get anywhere from 15 to 18 different DVD's a month. Not a bad deal at all. Pay more per month, get a higher number of discs sent to you. Keep one all month OR turn them around in the 20-minutes it takes to back it up to your HD with DVDD and run it to the mailbox.

That $30.00 for hundreds of movies just out and out smells bad and I like to stand away from quicksand, not in it (Lol)

BTW, I use NetFlicks :D)

Cheers,

Pete
