I want to know what modchip to use when i mod my slim ps2 70012.

DMS4 or Matrix Infinity are the best 2
They are worth the money. Swap Magic and a slimtool or aftermarket fliptop will also work but it has it's bad parts too like having to rebuild or patch some games, use extra swpping program like DVD Loader with cheat discs, not being able to play DVD9 (dual layer) back ups and so on.
But it is cheaper, at least until you want a newer version and have to shell out another $30 dollars

A mod chip you will need to do none of that. and those 2 have flash upgrades, which means whenever they want to add new features you will just download a free file, burn it to a CD and play it to upgrade your chip, no need to spend any more money.
But even with a mod chip i suggest you buy swap magic anyway. If you want to play games online you will still need it. You have to disable the chip and use swap magic because a lot of sites can detect them and won't let you on. Also all back up games need to be patched for online play with either method.
