ive read some of the threads here in the past and found some of the advice and such to be helpful and some of the members appeared to be pretty knowlageable so i was hoping maybe someone could help me out...i read the rules and i think this is the right section, and i searched for other threads asking the same questions i have but didnt find any...so here i go. I had ordered a 512MB RAM card from http://www.crucial.com that they guaranteed would be compatible with my computer after i submitted some information about my computer like the manufacter, model, etc...anyways it arrived earlier today so opened it up and followed the step by step instructions that came with it, like making sure to hold the card properly and keeping myself grounded to prevent damaging anything with static electricity...and i thought everything went pretty smoothly and the card fit in nicely...however when i put the cover back on and pressed the power button the light wouldnt come on, instead a fan inside my comp (i think its the fan that comes on to cool down my comp when it starts getting overheated but im not familiar with any of this stuff so i dunno) just started up for a second then stopped and the comp made this kinda loud noise for a second and after that when i pushed the button nothing would happen at all, but i unplugged it and plugged it in again and then pressed the button and the fan inside my computer started up but nothing else would happen, and the only way i could get the fan to turn off was if i held the power button for like 5-10 seconds or if i unplugged my pc...and even after i took out the new RAM card i had just put in, the comp still does the same thing when i try to turn it on...nothing happens short of the fan turning on...i hope i described everything properly...and if you need more specific information about the card or my computer or anything ill be more than willing to share...im just hoping i didnt somehow fry something despite my attempts at staying grounded, and that i might of accidently unplugged some cord or something instead...anyways any help would be very much appreciated...im on my brothers computer now, but ill try to check back here occasionly since i dont know how fast responces generally take on this forums...

did you try to reseat all of the RAM? Try to take it all out and put it back in and make sure that you close the clips to hold the RAM in place. Hope you can get it working.
