i bought a 512 mb memory card and it lets me only use 438 mb and then i format it and i lose 1 mb is this normal?

Your 4XX usable MB is somewhat normal, less than what i can actually use but your 1mb loss is due to you may have formated it but it still stores the folders for PSP / pic, music, games, save data. thats why you are seeing a 1mb loss. no sweat but dunno why your useable mb are so low ???

My Memory stick is a SanDisk but i did not experience that low of a usable memory rate...dunno whats up with that???

My usable was about 469 MB im pretty sure anyways

Acording to SanDisk a tipical 512 mb Memory Card should have 440-480 mb. This is because they need to have files on it so it will run! My 512mb had 464mb.
