I just got my PS2 from a guy that installed MODBO V1.1 modchip for me. Itīs using Infinity v1.38..

For some reason my PS2 canīt read any of my backups. I used Samsung Pleomax DVD-R 8X...
I was told by him that Samsung DVD-R are low quality shits..thatīs why my PS2 with MODBO V1.1 chip canīt read it... He said I have to buy high quality DVD-+R if I want it to work..

My question is:
1. Is this true? I remember to have used low quality DVD-R on my 1 chipped PS2 few years ago and that worked..
2. Or maybe MODBO V1.1 isnīt as good as it claims...

No.. I have a NEC DVD-Burner that can handle both -+ and double layer so itīs not the problem. I have tried backups on Ritec, Samsung and Sony DVD-R at speed 2x....

The guy that installed my Chip is blaiming on the low quality DVD-R that I used... but it canīt be the case.. 6 backups in a road that PS2 canīt read?.. Hell.. It must be the chip.. what do you think?

i think i need more info.i never new samsung put out blank media i thought you were talking about samsung burners.i dont know what program and how you used that program to burn games.how does it not read the backups?is your mod chip turned on?you could check up on the internet to see how your modchip operates.most modchips allow you to turn them on and off and some let you switch modes from ps2 mode io ps1 mode where you cant play ps1 games while in ps2 mode and vice versa.it too early to know the problem.its either your ps2(including the modchip) or the way you burned it but as far as it being the media thats the problem its not.you used several different media so it cant be the media.but there is other things you have to look into before you can assume its the chip.

... Samsung media can be made by Taiyo Yuden (1st class media), Ritek (good 2nd class media) or BeAll (crap 3rd class media) .. Before you condemn the Samsung media, run it through a DVD identifier to determine it's source ...

1 of all..thanks for the replies.. Even if it didnīt solve the problem.

Yes.. It canīt be the media. Sony, Ritec and Samsung are supposed to be good quality.
And yes, my MODBO v1.1 chip is on..

The messages I get from my PS2 when trying to play backups is: Please insert a PS or PS2 format disc.

I searched through the forums and didnīt find much about my modchip.. and the few I found claimed that because Modbo V1.1 is a clone chip and its stability sucks (but it works though)...

Well... Iīm going to visit this smartass that installed the modchip without telling me itīs a clone... If he canīt fix it I will get a new slim PS2..
