ok how do i change a torrent file into whatever it was intended to be?

You mean the .torrent file? You need a client.
Or you need WinRAR to unzip it.

download a torrent client like mentioned above. havent used bitTorrent for ages . . . . can't remember the names.

one client is bitTorrent itself, of course, but there are much better java clients out there that do a much better job at dling your files via torrents.

once client's installed, simply open the .torrent file from within the program and observe it download (usually to your desktop or wherever you placed the torrent file)
