well ive only just decided to start build a beastly machine piece by sweet piece. but im not sure of the speed compatability and stability of different setups and much of the letters only abreviation confuses me alot.

im wanting to use this pc for several things IMing and net surfing obviously. upperend gaming stuff like halflife 2 and doom 3. i game more on consoles but that is largely due to the fact that my pc sucks. i want to use this to capture video for some halo 2 montages, and as a media center pc to be linked up to tv and music with a remote.

i also will be wanting to record alot of tv on here tivo style. i usuallly run several net browser windows and aim and generally several programs at once. so ive heard intel is better at that. but the amd options seem better but im not totally sure. so i need a mopther board with 2 optical drives for sure and support for the best video card option i believe its a dual card setup but i dont know specifics.

whats the deal with the latest amd and intel processors i use froogle to find the best prices rather effectively (i think) but am not sure what the best setup is.

so heres what ive got ill link alot here but ill try to describe the links as best i can. also ive only just started this project and have yet to buy anyhting ill prolly start buying a part or 2 every month next month so here we go.

this link is a product comparison of two hardrives im considering
http://www.gamepc.com/labs/print_content.asp?id=400gbcomp&cookie%...

im thinking ill get 2 400gb hdds for the loads of video and music and games and apps ill be loading on this thing.

these are some prices ive found for both are they good? i think so

and
http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822145066R&C...

this isnt as important but its a nice keyboard prolly will be the first thing ill buy
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=967427-0403&sourceid=qIbA...

a 5.1 system isnt neccesarilly a true pc part but its gonna be part of the whole setup so ill throw in what ive found
http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/prices.aspx?itemId=1166746&stext=

the mobo im thinking of is the one that comes with falcon nw systems which i know to be the best out there.
asus a8n-sli deluxe or premium mobo

no link yet i havent looked for one yet

ive heard that intel processors are more stable with the intel mobo 955 chipset (not quite sure what that means) so heres a link to where i heard that
http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20050603/
ive read most of this article and understood most of it so hopefully that can give you guys an idea of what i know already.
