Greetings! Forgive me if I overlooked something, but I'm new to this (sure you haven't heard that one before) and I can't get any good info on how to do this:

What I want to do: Rip DVD's so I can edit the footage with Adobe Premiere and integrate it with my existing DV footage I shot and then burn it all to DVD-R.

I have recorded DVD's to my DV camera and then sent the footage into my computer to edit, but I was wondering if I could do it faster by keeping all the DVD info in the computer.

After I rip the .vob files, what would be the best (keep quality and still fast) way to convert them to a format I could edit with Premier? My DV files are in .avi, but I know I can't mix my DIVX .avi files and my DV .avi files while editing on Premier. I guess that means I need to convert the ripped DVD video files to a DV .avi compatible file format.(?) If I can get the DVD footage (video and audio in sync that works with the DV I shot) into Adobe Premier I'll have no problem burning the DVD from there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

VOBs are MPEG-2 which Premiere should be able to read, you can Demux them with the latest TMPGEnc to original m2v and AC3 files and mux them back to mpeg-2 video stream files and open that with Premiere and save the whole thing as DV if you have DV codec in your computer. Then later on import the saved DV and your cam's DV and edit them and burn the thing to DVD-R.

Not sure how it would work, but worth a try, I guess :-)
