I dont actually know! Not fully anyway. I think -R is more compatible with standalone DVD players, although most modern ones can play both +r and -r. V1-4 PS2's can only play -R. V5 and up can play both +r and -r. I also think +R can hold slightly more than -R even though both are advertised as 4.7GB.

Hmmm not sure Hursty. If you look at what Anvil has put -
device[1:0:0]Nec Dvd+RW ND 6500A 202C (D:)(ATA)
It says DVD+RW. If it could do both it would usually say DVD-R/+R or something like that

open up DVD Decrypter and ...>tools>drive>capabilties
this is fairly a new burner,so i would be suprised if it didnt read dvd-r.
make sure you have the latest firmware flashed.
think the latest is 2.24,but you would need to check on that
dvd decrypter..tools>drive>check for firmware updates

flashing the firmware with the latest may allow the drive to recognise the disk's
are you sure you havent done anything to mess around with the settings of the drive,?
got any virus's?
try another software to burn the game, like alcohol 120
as something is telling your drive that it doesnt like dvd-r disks
i would try the firmware upgrade first...but make sure you get the correct one for your burner
then if this fails try some other type of media

if the ps2 is making weird noises,it probably struggling to read the disk's,
in which case you need to clean the laser first, then if it still persists, change the media type you are using

have a look at the disk and see if anything is burnt on there, you should se a line where the burn ends,(check it against a new disk) to see the difference
personally,i would be tempted to try another type of disk,
or try using Alcohol 120 or Nero to burn it
