No matter what we are being told, file sharing is not damaging the movie and music industry, if this was the case why would 7 of the top 10 highest grossing films of all time, be released within the last 6 years.

Yes we understand that the industry deserves profit from those individuals that downloading and do not buy the original if they enjoy it and watch it numerous times, so thats where this pertition comes in.

Lets introduce a levy on blank cd-r and dvd-r media, lets say 10-20% and all the profits from this levy go directlly to the movie and music industry.

Please sign this online petiton at
http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/legalisefilesharing

And please spread the word to all the file sharing forum you visit as I wish for this petitionto reach over 10000 signs

Thankyou

1)Why do we need to sign a petition to legalise file sharing - it's already legal, just not for the transfer of copyright protected materials.

2)Many of us are already paying a levy on our blank media. But that does not give us the right to download copyright protected material without permission - so what are we paying for?

3)It would be ignorant to assume that filesharing does not damage the entertainment industries. Many downloaders would never go out and buy an original afterwards. Although I accept the arguement that to say this is true for all downloaders would also be wrong.

Let the courts sort this one out ..... 6 years and counting, I'm afraid one more petition is not going to make a difference.

In my Canada this already happens. I pay an extra $75 on a 40 gb Ipod. But there is yet to be a person sued for filesharing.
