not sure where i should ask this question. when i'm encoding or burning i've been starting up my software and changing the priority level for it through task manager to high. does this help the process of encoding and burning at all? or is it a waste of time.

I think it does if you are not idle (will slow other apps to snail pace), but set it to high anyways. You do not need to preserve any CPU power, because you shouldn'y be doing anything else anyways. It only takes a few seconds to set it to high and encoding etc.. takes a while.
