Hi I bought a DVD/Ps2 game from ebay (singstar karaoke game). from playing the game last night it would some times just freeze up when loading to the main game play.

I have tried to make a backup of the disk using DVD decrypter but I keep on gettign read errors at 26%.

looking at the disk I have noticed it has a few scratches on it so I am guessing this is the mian cause of the problem.

I have cleaned the DVD with specail DVD/CD cleaner spray + tried backing it up using another DVD writer I ahve on my PC and I still get the errors at 26%.

It does give me the option in DVD decrypter to ignore read errors, but I woudl only end up with the same bad data the same as the orginal but on a diffrent DVD-r disk.

do you no off any way I can fix these reading errors using certian software ?? + what are my options here ??

I hate to tell you this but your best bet may be downloading it off the net. But that game is kinda old so I dont No if its still going or not. Also someone told me you can buff or grind the scratches out but I never did it(Most game stores will do it for a 1 or 2 im told
maybe you can send it back. sorry I cant be of more help

There are places that will grind, actually take off layers of plastic on your DVD/CD to get a smooth surface again. It doesn't affect the game at all once it's done.Like having a new disc again.
Do a google search, there are home units that will polish scratches out as well they run between $14-$35 I have tried a couple of them with mixed results. I only tried more then one because I had "help" here in storage arrangements and could only find half the polisher when I needed it.
I was actually thinking of getting a professional machine to fix DVD's and CD's but couldn't think of an effective way to market the service

i think you are screwed,
but try this

get isobuster

put the game in the drive and open the image

on the left hand side see "track"
right click on this and "extract session",

isobuster may just beable to squeeze out the info,if you are lucky
if it gives you errors,you are well and truly phucked,and i would send it back

btw,if it does eventually extract the image,it may be in tao type image
in which case just rename the letters "tao" to "iso"
then burn it
