Hey guys,
i'm gettin real frustrated with all this torrent and download stuff now, ive tried everything over the past week and has made no difference. First I started with ABC. I have a Netcomm NB1300 Plus 4 modem so I followed the directions on portforward.com to open ports 6881-6889. I created a static ip as well. Prior to opening the ports they were shown as "closed". I checked them after port forwarding and they said "stealth". Now, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't port forwarding meant to get rid of the stealth status??

After I had done all this i tried downloading something else with heaps of seeds from a reliable source but if anything it was slower than before. I then reset the settings back to original and tried again. I did the process for ABC, Azureus and Bit torrent. The same story with all of them.

I'm now using Shareaza with the port 6346 forwarded and the static ip configured. Currently it's only downloading at 4KB/s. As my connection is 512kbps, my max download speed is around 50KB/s so 4 is ridiculous.

I have no software firewalls but a NAT on the modem. Even so, I've tried disabling this but it only made it worse as I was unable to open any web pages.

I can't think of anything else to do and have spent hours searching the forums for help. Any form of assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You are using the wrong ports, many sites block 6881 - 6889. It is a good idea to keep them forwarded but you should also set your client to listen on a different port too. I suggest a port, or small port range somewhere above 45000.

:)

Thanks for the help. I've just forwarded port 46000 and told Shareaza to use that as the listen port. I'll let you know how it goes

The new port hasnt made any impact. I think the problem may be with my Static IP. I followed the instructions but im not 100% convinced it worked properly, I found some extra info on DHCP tonight but got a little confused so left it unchanged. So at the moment, the status is

Ports forwarded: 6881, 40000, 6346
Static IP of 192.168.1.13
default gateway 192.168.1.1
DHCP- user defined start address- 192.168.1.4
user defined end address- 192.168.1.15

Cheers

sorry, new situation. I don't know what happened but it shat itself. The net stopped working and I couldn't access the router config page. I had to manually reset the modem so everything is standard now. Maybe its better starting from scratch! A guideline would be useful or instructions on how to do everything properly step-by-step.

thanks once again

Hi, I am having similar problems. I have tried everything, I have the ports forwarded, a static IP and yet the ports still show as stealthed and I only get yellow smilies in Azereus.

On one torrent I have over 100 seeds and was still only able to download 450MB in 24 hrs.
