This is in the wrong forum.
BTW, I notice that you're trying to burn at 16x which is way too fast under normal circumstances. Try tune down to 2-4x to see if it's better.

- you need to close down more background processes/applications ; otherwise you're using virtual memory - ie a portion of hard disc thus your hard disc will be 'swapping', and that will also be interfering with the dvd burning.

- InCD is packet writing software , but can interfere with other parts of Nero. I'd get rid of it by uninstalling Nero, obviously keep a note of your serial number, install Nero WITHOUT InCD
Sorry that hasn't been very conclusive, but at very least i think i've higfhlighted enough for someone else to get you sorted. I only use Nero's Burning Rom and don't use Nerovision but like decoding the logfiles for Nerovision. Usually have more luck than this but it was worth a try...

first off, don't listen to anything anyone else has told you here, you're burner was working fine then stopped working for some reason other than needing to load ASPI, too fast, DMA, ect....Theres's no reason for burner to stop working unless due to another running instance or another program causing driver problems. the best thing to do is to try to disable your IMAPI service and if that does'nt work, contact Nero with you error log..to disable IMAPI go to control panel, Administrative tools, services, and then scrool through list until you see IMAPI, then right click on it, select properties and then choose disabled in drop down box. restart computer..Make sure Nero completely updated...

@gambiel7 - Erm, there are various people's Nero logs on this thread - which are you referring to (or are you referring to all of them), and are you saying that the help people such as me give, by going thru these logs is incorrect.
I don't mind, even though this is my free time/help you're critising, but is this what you're saying ?
Would you care to clarify ?
ps in this case i've actually stated in the last logfile reply that i don't use Nerovision, however all i've done is read thru the logfile and point out the problems within. Are you also saying i'm incorrect in this. Please point out the bits that are incorrect.

@ creaky:
You know people always want the quick fix. I, for one, am very appreciative of the "down to basics" approach that you and others take in helping troubleshoot. Some people just want to be told what to do to get back up and running. I feel that there is so much to be learned by covering every aspect, no matter how simple, in working "up" to the problem. Through this approach, you not only get the problem fixed, but you gain an understanding along the way.
It's not all about "fix this for me" but rather "teach/guide me to be able to help myself next time" and maybe someone else in the future. To all you guys who resist the urge to be technical and guide us "noobs" from square one: "Thanks for your time and patience!"

dude, uhh, I just posted that thread like five minutes ago, you must have tons of free time....? Anyway, no I'm talking this particular thread, and besides I bet that's the same spew you give everyone who has a problem with burning, huh...Update firmware,DMA mode, load ASPI, Use better disk, BLAH,BLAH,BLAH. It's funny to me I see same answers everytime someone post with a problem, Does anyone on this web sight actually have a clue..?

@Alien13 & @teflonmyk - cheers; with stuff like logfile i just report on what i see, and sometimes recommend the odd extra thing over and above that, but i try to stick to the logfile as it's the only real indication of what's going on; to start with anyway..
yeah, quick fixes rarely help, as more often than not the problem will come back if the basics aren't addressed

@gambiel7 - i'm not causing an argument or taking offense if you were having a go, but to answer your last reply, see the comment i just made to the other 2 guys - Quote: with stuff like logfile i just report on what i see, and sometimes recommend the odd extra thing over and above that, but i try to stick to the logfile as it's the only real indication of what's going on; to start with anyway..
- you're psychic (don't take offense, i'm not being sarcastic)
so yes you're right for the most part, with logfiles it is the same old spew. I and many others (and many others on many different websites out there) do regurgitate the same old answers night after night, partly because people ask the same questions/have the same sort of problems, BUT ALSO because the logfiles tend to have to same sort of problems. Period.
Not getting at you, just answering your questions. You're entitled to disagree or not care about the help i provide here, but i do start to wonder what your point is, or if you're just having a go for some reason..

I have looked at this thread and want to mention here about my experience.
I spent lot of time burning and wasting lot of DVD's.
Looked at the burner manufacturer website for the certified media and tried burning one of those. Failed again. Replaced burner, new one burns most of the media thrown at it.
If the DVD-writer was working and not working now.
Best try would be burning one of the certified media for your DVD writer, if not successfull replace your burner.
Most of the forums, websites talk mostly about media.
No one has any method of identifying if the burner went pear shaped.
Just sharing my experience.
Regards,
Raj

Quote: How do you know that your burner is dead?
You have done nothing with your computer - no updates of your burning program or similar actions.
You are using the same media as before and even the same spindle of media.
When you insert a DVD - nothing happens and the only thing you hear is a scratch sound.
In Windows Explorer you can see the contents of a CD but not of a DVD.
You can still play and burn CDs.
When you try to burn - it will only reject your inserted media and ask for a blanc disc.
Pick it to pieces and cleaning the laser head don't help.
In my case it happend during a burning. The logfile reported "Power calibration error".
Power calibration error:
Before any write operation, all recorders must do a 15 step power test to determine the optimum power for writing to the DVD; this is called "Optimum Power Calibration"(OPC). During the write, it continues to do this test to get the best write throughout the whole DVD; this is called "Running Optimum Power Calibration" (ROPC).
This whole process 'Power Calibration' is controlled by the recorder, though initiated by programs such as Nero. There is an area on the inner part of the DVD for the test and test data info to be stored. You can use this area up to 999 times.
If you receive the "Power calibration error" or "Power calibration area is (amost) full" error message, the cause will be either poor media, poor power, or a defective recorder.
From Digital Digest.

I agree with creaky, slow down your burn speed.

Quote: dude, uhh, I just posted that thread like five minutes ago, you must have tons of free time....? Anyway, no I'm talking this particular thread, and besides I bet that's the same spew you give everyone who has a problem with burning, huh...Update firmware,DMA mode, load ASPI, Use better disk, BLAH,BLAH,BLAH. It's funny to me I see same answers everytime someone post with a problem, Does anyone on this web sight actually have a clue..?
gambiel7 :
Heres some food for thought:
WHATS THE DEAL, people come here to get answers.By doing the most obvious things first , if that doesnt work then we try for alternatives. How have you helped, i know you just thought you'd be obnoxious and get another one added to your post count, that makes about 11 doesnt it.
If your going to insult the members with your comments expect to get a backlash as rudeness isnt the thing here and nearly all the experts here do this in there spare time.

I could name a large number of people who do, from Adminstration on down.
Quote: first off, don't listen to anything anyone else has told you here
That would be a mistake because there are an awfully lot of knowledgeable people on this site who contribute their time free. If you feel that their advice is worthless, then you need your own forum.
