Pal and NTSC are region types (i dont know how to put it). games in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Asia (i think) are PAL, and everywhere else is NTSC. i don't know much about Pal or NTSC regions though.

EDIT:
i just noticed that if you click the words 'pal' & 'NTSC' in what i've typed above, a definition of it comes up.
