Hi, just getting into backing up my games, but I need to know if I can back-up my psx games and play them with the swap magic disk(s) on my ps2. Using swap magic 3.6 (newest) with slide card. Working great for my ps2 back-ups, but what about the original psx games? Thanks!

All CD-R backups too. You have to use Swap Magic CD Version.

How would I go about doing this? I understand how to backup a ps2, so would I just do it the same way? Are there any special procedures to boot a PSX game? Thanks for the help

Edit: I forgot to mention this, but I read somewhere that to boot psx games like I am trying you need a psx gameshark. Is that true? Thanks

Yea that is true, If you want to play backup ps1 games the swap magic won't work. You need to get a ps1 cheat disc excluding xploder or anything that uses a special memory card or dongle (preferably gameshark) You could also use breaker pro but its hard to find and way more expensive

Oh, and to burn ps1 games just copy them like you would a normal ps2 c.d game except you can use any burn speed/ on the fly burning

OK...more questions, and hopefully more answers?

The game I am backing up is a PAL game, and my PS2's are NTSC. With the Gameshark allow me to play this? (I picked it up at the MadCatz store for a mere $2.99!) If not, what are the alternatives, excluding mod-chips. Thanks!

Hey,
I've been wanting to play PSX backups too on me PS2 for a long time!, but since i only have SM and no damn PSX capable boot disc I frickin cant!. :( I would like to know if there is any free boot program(s) out there on da net that i could download?, and burn to cd to be able to load it by using Swapmagic's Cd to start it.

It's a wonder no one has made a thing like that yet, and if they can make DVDLoader and stuff why can't anyone make a simple Psx cd booter.

Thanx

wargamer...I don't know if this is satisfactory for you, but you could use emulators. There are many emulators for psx that are free to d/l. Just search. As for playing them on PS2, obviously I don't know how, or I wouldn't have asked:P

Anyways, the way I am looking into is actually buying a disc that would allow me to do this. I know Gameshark2 has DVD Region Free in it, could there a solution somewhere along those lines? I bought the gameshark, and now I am disappointed. Glad it was only 3 bucks:P

I think I found out, but need some reassurance.

What about this 'Breaker Pro'? It claims to do exactly what I need, but is it as good as it sounds? It says it can play PAL, but can it play PAL backups on an NTSC console? Thanks!

Well its meant to be the ps1 version of swap magic so it sounds good. Im 99% sure that it plays PAL backups on an NTSC console too

OK...I'd like to not have to buy anything else, if at all possible.
Here is the stuff I have so far: Swap Magic 3.6(DVD&CD), Slide Tool, Gameshark2 v.4, Gameshark(For PSX) v.5. Need to play PSX back-ups and Imports on a PS2.
Thanks.

As far as I know to play ps1 backups.
1.Boot ps1 gameshark
2.press start and continue without codes.
3 When it asks you to put in the ps1 disc use the slide tool and swap with the slide tool.
4.Press X and enjoy! (-:
I have not personally tried this with gameshark but this is what i've heard from other people and it should work.

If you put an original psx game in the ps2 and then wait until the playstation loading screen comes up (you might need the swap tool for this) now swap the original copy for the backup and that should work.

Buy Breaker Pro, that's it. Kind of like Swap Magic but Breaker Pro only for PSX games.
