Hi,

I am trying to convert my vcr tapes to dvd. I am not being cheap. I have the entire collection of Have Gun Will Travel and I am trying to convert it to DVD so I won't damage the tapes. I have tried everything from dazzle to canopus and I am not happy. I then came across the Replay tv a pvr that seemed would hold the solution to my problem. I simply hooked up the vcr to the Replay unit and hit play then manual record. Great all done. Next, I pull the Replaytv created mpeg2 off the replayTV 5040 unit to my pc pull it into dvd authoring software create the menu and then boom! Burn the disc. Not so!

I have used Sonic's DVDit, MGiwave, Pinnacle studio 8 and Ulead DVD workshop. Most of them sit there for hours and may error out. However, Ulead gives me a warning saying the mpeg may not play in a dvd player but will play in a pc dvd player. I burn anyway. Disc done and I plop it into my home dvd unit. It works and menu works except there is NO sound. Arggh! TempGenc says the mpegs are an unsupported format. Wombles MPEG2vcr pulls it in, I just don't know what to do with it?

Any help ??

I think you need to reencode the audio to 48Khz to be DVD compliant

www.vcdhelp.com has a guide, look under converting svcd to DVD as this is Mpeg to DVD as well
