Had a very disturbing event take place while adding photos to a DVD-R that I had previously burned photos on. I am using Nero ROM 6.6.03 with a Lite On burner. When the burn was basically completed a message indicated the burn had failed. All the was left accessible on the DVD was one folder containing photos. All the rest of the photos and folders are gone. I have used some shareware rescue software and I believe I can rescue the photos. The disk was only about 1/4 burned. However, this situation simply can't happen again and risk losing valuable photos. I had read through most of the links here regarding this situation and believe my settings are correct. I am using MAM ? disks which I have read are of high quality. Any ideas what may have happened? Unfortunately, I did not save the log of the burn. I have read others recommend using DVD info to gather information. I would like to provide that to help ascertain the problem. Not being familar with that software, what information do I need from that software to be useful for diagnosis? Any help would be greately appreciated. Right now I am very concerned about Nero software. I have used XP's native burning abilities and never have had problems. But then again this is the first DVD disk I have ever burned to.

first of all, your Nero log is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log if you want to paste here. All burns are appended to it so pls post last section of log MINUS the serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar (the serial number will help you differentiate between sections of logfile, ie sections between each burn session). The logfile should be sufficient but it might also be worth verifying your media with dvdinfopro (free download from www.dvdinfopro.com). Run the disc thru it's media info check and paste that here too..

You've probably just got some issues with your setup that need tweaking

Ok...I found the log is question. Clearly,I did have at that time some setting problems. The DMA was not set right. However, from reviewing this log, what do you all believe was the major culprit?
THANKS so much for having this forum!!

Nero version: 6.6.0.3 (Nero Express)
- not too old, but it's worth using latest version 6.6.0.14. Uninstall Nero, to completely remove all traces of it as it leaves stuff hanging around, use the Nero Clean Tools here - " http://www.nero.com/us/Clean_Tools.html ", then install 6.6.0.14

- i don't think this is decent media by any means. Try top notch media that costs no more than crap media - Verbatim datalifeplus. Look at my signature for what i think of bad media. Also did a quick search on afterdawn for your media - scan down the page in this link -

- Nero's InCD is packet writing software, this tends to interfere with standard Nero Burning Rom. As mentioned at the bginning of my reply, uninstall Nero, do the Clean Tools thing, then install 6.6.0.14 WITHOUT installing InCD
