Hi,

I've been reading alot of **** on how to burn and how not to burn etc.

Let me help the ones ore lots who just wanna go and make a backup without any hassle.

1st of all, get DVD Decrypter (there are enough links on the forum where to get it or just google after it). ;)

2nd, don't get torrent files or downloaded warez crap ISO versions of your games, go out and rent a game or buy it and after you made your backup sell it.

Preffered system specs for burning back-ups:

A cpu that can handle multiple threads (P4 @ 2Ghz preffered, AMD will do fine, but at least 2.2Ghz preffered to avoid bottlenecks).

At least 1Gb (that is 1024Mb) of DDR Ram memory to handle the buffers. You can try with less, but don't complain if you get glitshes after burning. :p

A DVD Writer capable of burning DVD+R, DVD-R won't do. In some cases DVD-R will do, but I can't guarantee it. DVD-RW Discs won't work, the psTWO DOESN'T read RW discs.

I've tested the brands RITEK and OPTIDISC. Brands are usually not found on the package, but are internal names of the discs themselves. In example, the RITEK discs were in a package from Octron and the OPIDISC in a package from EMTEC.

Now for the backup itselves:

- Put your ps2 game in the dvd drive and start DVD Decrypter.

- Choose Mode => ISO => Read, then choose a place to store your image and press the big decrypt button. This may take up to 10 minutes to complete.

- When done, you will hear a nice carabean sound telling you the image completed.

- Next, restart DVD Decrypter. Not necessarely, but is better for the buffer state of both soft and hardware.

- Then choose Mode => ISO => Write.

- Put a BLANK DVD+R in your drive.

- After it initiates, choose the image you just made, put the writing speed at 4X, not 1x or 2X, it will do just fine on 4X.
- Pusch the big button to start Burning.

- After 15 minutes or so, you'll again hear the nice carabean song telling you the backup is burned.
- Voila, backup made.

And now for the tricky part: How to play them?
Very simple, get Swap Magic 3.6 Plus with the new magic Switch pro kit (contains 3 little plastics dongles to let your psTWO think its open and you can play the games with your console hach closed.)

I've successfully backed up following games with no hassle what so ever:

- Devil may cry 3
- Tekken 5
- SSX 3
- Burnout 3
- Jak 3
- GT4 (Oh Yes!! Gran Tourismo 4 with no patch what so ever on a Dual Layer DVD!!)
- Mortal Kombat Deception
- Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition
- More to come of course.

So, let me resume:
You need:
A psTWO :p
An original ps2 game, no warez crap ISO or downloaded torrent!!
A good stable PC with a dvd writer capable of burning DVD+R at 4X
Swap Magic 3.6 Plus with the new magic swap Pro tool.

I hope this was helpfull for you.
Have a nice day and have fun backing up. ;-)

About 5.5Gb,
so you will have to use a dual layer DVD for that game.

But that is the only game I had to use a Dual Layer for.
All other games went fine on a Single Layer DVD.

Well, it works fine for me though.
Maybe a lucky glitch?
All I know is that I used a Dual Layer DVD, since the iso was 5.5Gb,
after that I booted with Swap Magic and it worked.

I've got Swap Magic 3.6 Plus DVD and CD Pal Version with the new Magic Switch Pro Toolkit.
My PsTwo is 70004, the new slim silver case model.

First of all, I didn't explain how to "steal" games, but how to back them up.

The advice on not to go for the illegal downloads is to help gamers not to damage their consoles with buggy files, and last but not least, why on earth do you think there is a thing as back ups?
Did you ever break one of your games? I sure never did.

Face it, the only reason peoples ask about backups is to "not" having to pay the ridiculous overpriced games.

As for the forum rules, I did NOT promote piracy nor did I in any way link, hotlink, sell or pushed anyone into the ways of piracy. In fact, you can say I did the opposite plus I just advised on HOW TO make a working backup, if you prefer to call it that way and NOT a pirate version of a game like torrents etc.
