OK, I am new to this and Im having a little trouble.

I have a Slim PSTwo that has the Magic switch pro mod in it.
I have SMD 3.6
I have not used these yet successfully with a back up game.

I have tried burning an iso of a game twice now and made 2 coasters.
Two different methods.
1. Using iso buster to open iso And extracting the files in the right window (iso folder) to another folder.
Opened nero, DVD , UFD/ISO DVD, dropped files from folder in the same order as ISO Buster had them (although nero rearraged them)and burned to a Memorex DVD-R. This game iso dosnt have any dummy or garbage files.
2. Used the same files that were extracted from ISO Buster that I have in a folder.
Opened CDVDGEN 1.5, dropped in the files from the folder in same order that ISO Buster had them. This created 3 new files (.000,001,002)and a Lst file.
Opened CDVDGEN ISO,added the three files, this created 1 ISO file.
I was going to use nero to burn the iso but after I opened nero,DVD,UFD/ISO DVD, when I tried to drop in the iso file it give me an error that the file was over 2gigs and it wouldnt accept it.
So I used DVD Decrypter to burn the iso to a Memorex DVD-R.

Turned on tv and playstation, put in SMD 3.6 DVD , 2 options on screen (load program, Video mode:normal),swapped disks, then it reads the disk and in blue letters below where it says Video mode: normal it now says not a valid ps2 disk.
Also tried changing the video mode. Still the same thing.

Please help.
Am I doing something wrong when burning or is there something I need to do for the first time using SMD 3.6.
Has anyone used these memorex dvd-r successfully?

It very well could be the DVD media you're using. I haven't heard too many people on this forum talk about using Memorex as their DVD-Rs of choice. I personally use Sony DVD+R, but I'm a minority here that actually has no problems with those disks. See if you can get ahold of a Verbatim DVD-R disk or Fujifilm DVD-R. Fuji is actually produced by another company that's name escapes me, but they're both very good media to use.

Also, which game are you trying to backup? Some games have a bit of trouble loading without some tweaking. Since you already have DVD Decrypter, you should go ahead and just burn the ISO with that or Nero. I would leave CDVDGEN alone.

It very well could be that the TOC file (Table of Contents) for ATV Offroad Fury 3 is too big to load. I dont really know much about ATV 3, but ATV 2 had a TOC of about 4.15Gb. Seeing as its a sequel with added content, it might be larger and need DVDLoader v7 from www.swapmagicfix.com to load correctly.

Just a thought, not sure. Lets see if anyone else has any suggestions as I've not tried to backup ATV 3 yet.

The original iso file was about 4.10 gigs but after I used the second method in the first post with CDVDGEN ISO it was only 2.07 gigs.

Should the 2.07 gig disk using SMD 3.6 without refreshing the TOC?

Remember I have yet to get any back up disk to work.
An original disk works fine though.

Memorex are awful media for PS2 games. Use quality media like Sony, Phillips, Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Ritek etc. Save the memorex media for movies.

OK
I got some verbatim DVD+R.

Tried burning buy using the first method( dropping the files in Nero in the correct order)
Another coaster. Same message on screen.

I tried a different iso. Thinking maybe the ATV Fury 3 iso might be bad.
So I tried Batman Begins. This iso is onlt 2.43gigs.
This time I tried just burning the iso to disk using DVDDecrypter.
Same result(not a valid ps2 disk)

I did get a cd-r to work, kinda.
I have a bin/cue of Extreme Quads but it is a PAL version and everything I have are NTSC. Burned it with Nero on a Maxell cd-r.
The game works ok but it is in black and white.

I guess the magic switch pro on the pstwo is working because the cd-r works but I dont understand why I cant get a DVD-R or a DVD+R to work.
All I keep getting is the dredded (not a valid ps2 disk).

Any Ideas?

did you make sure you used the dvd swap magic disc for dvd games and cd sm disc for cd games?

and you have to switch video mode to get the PAL game to work right.

Yes I am positive that I used SMD DVD to try to boot up the dvd games.
I used the SMD CD to boot the PAL cd-r game and I did change the mode to PAL but the game still loaded in black and white.

Thanx for trying to help.
