Hello everyone! Well i'm having trouble with the damned mc exploit. I've made many boot discs with the exploit compiler from exploitstation.com and nothing works. It just hangs on the "Playstation SCEA" black and white screen. I've tried many different combinations on which the files needed for the exploit. This is how one of my cds look:

Files
CDVD.irx
EXPINST.ELF
TITLE.DB
DUMMY.DF

This is what i am doing:
I have made a compiled exploit cd using a psx game (007)
I have tried the many LBA edits with cdps2gen or whatever itscalled
Put the files in different orders on different cds (Alcohol 120%)

This is how i try to boot:
Pop the PSX game in and wait for the browser to ident it.
Swap the PSX game with the compiled cd via taking my ps2 top cover off as well as the cd drive cover and put it in. (Already disassembled due to replacing the laser)
Then i highlight the psx cd and press X
The cd boots to the "Playstation SCEA" black and white screen and freezes

After about 5 mins of that i reboot and go back into the browser and hightlight my memory card and press X. I have a "My System Configuration" file that is 5kb large. I dont have nothing else on the memory card cuz i had to replace it after i have tried this exploit and fried my MC. I have a v1 ps2 and using Max Memory 16mb card. I do not have Swap Majic or a modd chip. Do i need one of these for the exploit to work? I've gone thru all of these forums here on this site for the last 2 weeks. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

What is it you what to use the exploit for? There's only really a few things you can do with one and that's either for booting hdd's or installing homebrewed applications for watching avi's or listening to mp3's.

I was really tring to install the independence exploit to kinda do both. I have a 80gb hdd that has over 60 movies. The one i have in the ps2 is another 80gb that was formatted with winhipp or whatever. If you are able to install the exploit you can do both can't ya? Load HDD and play movies and mp3s.?. Should i try a different psx game? If i really cant get help i guess my only thing is to chip it. But if you can help p4_tt it would be really much appreciated.

I don't think you need to try a different PSX disc, since you just need the disc i.d. and the game itself to boot.

A little off topic, but instead of a memory card can you load the program on the ps2 hdd and use a trigger CD. (HD Loader on PS2 Hdd)
Can it be loaded using the CD's number code.

No only modchips can do that, and also you NEED a Ps1 disc to boot a exploit on a non chipped system

Yeah, i know you need a PS1 disc, but instead of having the software like HD Loader on a Memory Card you have it on the HDD. Can that be done.

Launch elf is a menu that boots lots of programs at once. No it wont let u play dvd rips that swap magic wont let u play because launch elf just lets u boot up swap magic so u dont have to use the disk. Try using hd advance to play ur dvd rips.

Hi! I have an unmodded version 7 ps2 and I want to do the memory card exploit without using FTP, I want to use my USB drive. I have heard that it is possible but I couldnt find any details! Please help! Thanks!

Its a very complex setup but it is possible to perform a mc expoit using a usb drive.

First u need to get a program like AR Max Evo so that u can transfer files back in forth from ur usb drive to ur mc.

Next u need to follow the instructions here at http://www.exploitstation.com/articles/FAQ9.php

Good luck and enjoy. Now if someone can explain how to boot SNES Station and get it to actually read the roms using this expoit w/out swap then i will be eternaly greatful :)

That was my problem when I first tried it. I had a different version of both lol
