sometimes i get that too. it isn't necessarily a problem with the disc or console. sometimes when that happens the reset button (not the open button) just needs to be pressed to get your modchip activated so to speak.

i'm purely guessing now but i had a similar problem copying a different game. (and older title) when i burnt it, it would copy fine, burn, etc. but when i loaded it into my ps2, it went past the "Playstation 2" screen, made a loading noise from the console and stayed on a black screen. Unfortunately i never did figure out the problem especially since computer wise and the condition of my ps2 console was perfectly alright. i just chalked it up to maybe being the disc. the disc wasn't "damaged" enough to not be able to backed up but... something was just wrong. as far as DJ:NY is concerned, i haven't heard anything that would cause a problem itself. (how other posts are about MC3:Dub, GT4, etc.)

how is the condition of your disc? have you tried a different program for the heck of it? (ie: alcohol 120%)

(i'm just trying to cover all the bases...)

so your console and modchip work perfectly fine with any other backed up discs? are you using DVD-R or DVD+R? sometimes that doesn't matter but some systems can be picky. is there anyway you could test your backed up DJ:NY on another modded console? what about if you placed the disc in your computer? are the files the same? <-- sometimes an error can occur anyway no matter if all the files are the exact same or not but just giving anything a shot.
