Hi, I've been using dvd decrypter and dvd shrink (writing with nero) for a while now and I never used to have any problems ripping and burning any dvd at all. I have the latest versions of all programs listed. However, on one dvd, i used shrink and had no problems right until the end, where it told me it writing was unsuccessful (sorry did not think i would need the list of problems). However, separately, dvd decryptor said in the log that there was a "possible structure protection found". This is followed by "1 area has been marked suspect" and "dummy sectors will be inserted where necessary". I tried ripping it with decrypter and burning it again using shrink (and nero) at a lower writing speed, but no luck. I also tried using the files through clone dvd 2 but it did not change anything. What can you suggest? Should I try to burn with decryptor (coz i've never done that)? Thanks a lot.

sounds like a movie that's Arccos protected, Decrypter can get around most of those. I'm not as up to date with Arccos variations as i was, i tend to rip older movies more than i do brand new films. What film is it ?

i have no experience with arcos. Are u sure decrypter can get round arcos? shall i burn it with other software. if so what? coz i believe it may be a writing error, as it gets to 99% and then flunks.

i was just checking. as far as i'm aware there's nothing funny about million dollar baby protection-wise. Now that's interesting about the 99% during burning. That suggests to me that you're burning too close to the edge of disc/and or using bad media. Have a look in DVD Shrink's preferences and change target size to 4300MB, thus avoiding outer edge of discs.
Also, download dvdinfopro (free) from www.dvdinfopro.com and run that last disc thru it's media info check, pasting the results here..

here's another thread with similar media to you're using - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/208101
I recommend Verbatim datalifeplus media - top notch as per my signature. Have a look at 2nd link in my signature for reasons to avoid iffy or unheard of media...

The thing is, I ran the process on on my sisters brand new laptop, with her new dvd burner. I think other than that was limiting the size on shrink to 4300. Quality was still very good. I will look into those Verbatim blank dvds. cheers
