Certain movies playing ONLY on DVD-RW's not DVD-R's on standalone DVD player????????

Hi,
I have DVD's that i am trying to back up. I use DVD decrypter then ifoedit to rip out menues and audio i dont want then i burn with nero. Using Datastream DVD-r (i habe the pioneer A05 writer) i have been able to copy several movies no problem first time that will play on my stand alone dvd player (philips 711). however i have tried to copy my fourth DVD (halloween the original restored version 1978 and Jurassic park 3) and they do not play on my DVD player but will play on my computer. The weird thing is when i burn these to a pioneer DVD-RW they work on the philips player. I have tried several DVD-r's even pioneer one's and these two movies refuse to read on my player. This has me really confused, it cant be the way i am ripping as all of the other movies work fine and more importantly these two movies work fine on a DVD-RW, and it cant be the media as i have tried the more exepnsive pioneer DVD-r's and the fact that the other movies work fine even on the cheaper datastream DVD-r's every time. So i have no idea???
Can anyone possibly shed some light on what this could be, all movies i have done are all under 4.36gb so ther is no reencoding however i keep going back to original point, they work on the DVD-RW?

Did you upgrade your Nero recently? Nero 5.5.10 (the latest) didn't work for me. Burned discs wouldn't play on my standalone player. I heard earlier versions work.
