hello i was just wondering what i need to backup my ps2 games, i have read a few threads and am wondering if i can make backups that will run without having to mod my ps2. also what would be the cheapest meathod and the best in your opinion.

nope you need a mod chip. there are many different options, check out consolesource.com. for backing up games, use DVD Decrytper in ISO read and write mode.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

1.you need a mod(no exceptions)
2.a dvd rewriter(rw)
3.blank media(dvd+r,dvd-r,and sometimes cdr)
4.a burn software and sometimes extra programs(dvd decrypter is free and very useful)
5.patience(this is optional but very important)

you could go the hard drive mod route and not need a rewriter and blank media,but most hdloader users end up making hard copies anyway.then you would need a pc hard drive or ps2 hard drive and hdloader prog.the cheapest way would be swap magic with slide card or fliptop.you might find some cheap modchips but you have to solder the chip to the motherboard.the no solder chips work with swap discs so you will still need to get swap magic with a no solder chip.
