So i understand the basic idea behind them, but what is it that the swap disc has on it that allows me to put in my back-up copy game? Is it loading the "bad sectors" or the "pressed codes" that i've read about? I guess i'm asking, why can't i just put in a copied game, get the message from the PS2 about inserting a PS2 disc, use the swipe card, and then put back in the copied disc....?

after you get that insert a ps2 format game screen the ps2 will stop reading the disc.if you put in your backup it still wont read the disc until you hit reset.if you hit reset you will end up at the same screen with your backup.swap magic allows you to get past the ps2 logo screen so you can put in a backup.but most importantly it stops the disc from spinning allowing you to open up the tray to put your backup in.if the ps2 would stop spinning after recognizing a ps2 game in the browser screen then you could use a normal ps2 game to play your backup.problem is,it wont stop spinning.
