I've been trying to backup the 3rd season of the sopranos, and mostly it has worked. I'm using DVDxCOPY, but I also have IfoEdit(which I haven't really mastered)to "get VTS sectors" and to view the files on my HD when necessary. I also have DVDSplit and Vobrator.
I hit a snag on the last disk (disk 4) as it wouldn't split/copy with DVDXCopy, SO.....I tried it manually, and only got the first episode (there are 3 episodes plus some extras) to work.

the trouble is that there are only 2 Title Sets on the entire disk, and the first title set is where all the episodes are (there are 7 vob files in this set). Unfortunately, each episode uses 2 and a half vob files (episode one uses Vob 1, 2, and part of 3(labeled as ID 1), episode two uses part of VOB 3, 4, and part of 5 (labeled as ID 2), etc.)

Is there a way to finish backing up my DVDs without losing my mind?
Does anyone know how I can proceed?

I have successfully backed up my Sopranos Thirs Season, I used DVD Decryptor to DeCrypt all of the VOB files, I used IFO Edit to extract the ID's that I needed for each Episode, each Sopranos Original Episode DVD Disc was split up into 2 DVD-R discs, I used IFO Edit to extract the VOB ID's for each episode and then burned them to DVD-R', the whole Third Season 4 Disc set fit onto 8 DVD-R's,2 DVD-R's per original Disc, I didn't have to do any reEncoding, it is still as perfect as it was on the origianl DVD's. I have done this with all 3 Sopranos Seasons, I just put 1 or 2 Episodes from Each Original Season Disc on 1 DVD-R Disc.

Haven't done this dvd but have done several similar. I split to 2 discs and get the menu with the first one but the second won't work. Here's what I do

On the second disc I dont use the vts_01_0.vob or any of video_ts files, just the vts_01_1 and subsequent files and the ifo file. The open the ifo in ifoedit and click vob extras. Then check off the correct vob-unit, correct original ifo and create new ifo options and on the other side I check off (i.e. put a tick in) remove p-uops, remove macrovision, adjust vob pointers and adjust audio/sub (these are always checked anyway so I just leave them)

Choose a destination path and then click on "ok"

10 minutes later you have a video_ts and vts_01 ifo in your destination directory. Move them to your dvd directory and use ifoedit to get vts sectors.

What you get is a disc that plays all the episodes that were on the second disc one after another as one big movie - i.e. no menu.

If you split a dvd to 2 discs and the second one is more than 4.36gb you can split this to 2 more discs and then use the above method.

Hasn't failed me yet

Techzero/TeeGee:
Thanks for the reply. I was 6 hrs out of town yesterday and couldn't reply..I'm willing to try both ways.
Techzero: Thanks for your advice. Have a couple of questions. You said "I used IFO Edit to extract the ID's that I needed for each Episode" Do you mean the DVD player in IfoEdit? Or is it something else? Also, how did you use IfoEdit to extract the VOB IDs?
Did each of your DVD-r disks have full menus then?
Teegee: Thanks for your reply/advice. What did you use to rip? DVD Decryptor? Also, did you rip all the files? or did yuo do it by chapter/PGC mode?

I always rip all files with dvd decrypter but in this case, when you have mucked about with vts_01 like this, you only need Vts_01 - even if the original dvd used another vts set for fbi warnings etc.

If the vts set containing your episodes on the original disc was other than vts_01 you just have to rename them!

Techzero, you are using the same tools I use- DVDDecrypter and IFOEdit. I have some questions regarding burning TV show DVD's. Can you tell me how you decrypt all the VOB files from the DVD? When I try it I can only do one epsiode at a time and if I try the next episode it overwrites the one I had done before. Is there a way of decrypting all episodes at 1 time or do I need to do them 1 at a time and move the files to a different directory when I'm done? Any help regarding this process would be appreciated.
