is there such a thing as dvd-rw, or is there only dvd+rw, becuase i have a -r burner only

There is a new dvd-dl format yes,
But your old burner would not be able to use them,
Its a new media format all together.
But no dvd-rw.
Playstation 2 CANNOT read rw disks anyway,

DVD-RW is technically slightly less advanced than its competitor, DVD+RW. But the years projections of blank media sales show that sales of DVD-RW media will dominate the markets with appx. 75 percent re-writable market share.

I wish people would stop spreading the "RW doesn't work" message around because, some systems do read RW and you won't know unless you try.
