I am a very experienced movie burner and this is the first problem I have encountered that I can not overcome. I have a tv series on my computer with 24 avi files. The series itself is small enough to put on a dvd9 but when I use any of my burning programs (main one is nero) it will not let it fit onto the disk no matter the setting. Is there any program that will burn series without encoding it to a bigger filesize. Thanks for the help

after you encode each file or batch encode them whats the :
length of the individual files or the total.
Are you trying to save this as straight data?
or somrthing else?

well each file is about 180 mb and around 45 minutes. The entire season is about 7.79gb (just below the max for a dvd9). I am trying to burn the season to my dual layer disc to watch in my dvd player. I know I could encode each episode to a lower format (size) but I need something that can do the whole season, rather than a file at a time.

maybe change the program you are using to that of a re author program like tmpg dvd author. If you have batched them all together you shouldnt have a problem with the uniform aspect of this program and as this program supports dual layer thats a + as well.

Another alternative is to add each individual files and watch the bar at the bottom to make sure that what your file sizes are , are actually with in the ratio of the disc.

see how you go.

Hi there,

Here's my 2 cents worth.

DivXtoDVD usually takes a 700mb AVI and outputs about 2.3 Gb in VOB files.

Considuring 24 files, honestly it would be cheaper to split them up on DVD5 which are way way cheaper !

8 avi files x 180mb = 1440mb AVI. DivXtoDVD might output less the 4.3 Gb hopefully, if not, tell reduce to 7 files.

If 8 files fit, that would mean 3 x DVD5

Still cheaper than 1 DVD+R Dual Layer :)

If if you have a few Dual Layer Media, you might want to try to see

If 12 avi files converted with DivXtoDVD will fit on 1 Dual Layer, you can split it on 2 x Dual Layers.

DivXtoDVD v2.00 Release Candidate can give you a pretty good estimate of the output size as you add files.
