I have been backing up my DVDs for some time and everything has been great except for the sound, which always seems to be a little soft in general and the voices seem to be a little muffled when there is some ambient noise (i.e., two characters in the stands talking while basketball game is playing). The sound seems no different when using 5.1 Dolby Surround or when just watching on a tv using its two speakers. It's not the biggest deal but has always nagged at me to fix it. Any ideas?
(also, im using ridata 8x discs, ripping with dvdd, encoding with shrink keeping both 2-ch and 5-ch selected, burning with nero at 4x)

programs such as Shrink etc don't do anything with the audio, the audio track is copied exactly, ie not compressed or changed in any way
