Please help.... having problems burning audio cds

Ok, so whenever I burn a cd, and try to play it in any stereo, it skips, won't play, and sounds crackly. I have tried slowing down the speed of my burner to 10x, but the problem still persists. I am using a generic cd-r, and Roxio to burn (I'm an in the process of getting Nero). My computer and burner are less than a month old, so I doubt it is a hardware problem. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you.

hi lily,
i see you are having some minor probs.
To help you more we need a little more info.
Pc stats
exact media type you are using?
Do you have both Nero and roxio on your pc as roxio is known to conflict with most pc software!!!
Have you done an upgrade to the burner via the firmware?
Do you have the latest drivers for your software and pc ?

are the songs u are buring from a damaged cd? cause i have ripped songs from badly scratched cd's in the past and the resulting mps's and copied cds have been jumpy aswell.

No, it is not from a damaged CD. The song sound perfect on my computer before they get burned.
No, I only have Roxio on my computer right now.
I am using "multipoint" cd-r's.
Yes, everything is updated.

ok here's something to try. i suspect crap media anyway, however we can pinpoint this by copying the audio tracks to hard drive, ie if the tracks play fine then there's most of the answer. i use a program called cdex 1.51 - http://www.pcw.co.uk/vnunet/downloads/2128746/cdex-51
to rip cd's to hard drive. I do them as mp3's but you can do them as straight WAV files i think... See how you get on, rip maybe a couple tracks or the whole thing as MP3 and if it plays fine from hard drive that could be your answer

Thanks guys, for the help.... but I think I figured it out. I just used the burning program that came with my computer... I guess my burner is not compatable with some burning programs. Now everything sounds great.
Thanks a bunch, anyways!
