Hello. Been unsucessfully trying to burn a file that I converted from DIVX to (wishfully) DVD using a AD guide. To no avail. Been reading through different threads. Am a total newbie but applied all the information I could from what I read. I updated firmware. I updated Nero.
Only I don't have new media yet.
Could that be my one and only problem?
Log follows. All suggestions welcome.

Thank you so much for your help. I updated my ASPI driver with your link.

I read through the above link and didn't find clearly the information I needed to make a correction. Maybe this is because I didn't understand well enough what I was reading.
Does the problem above, in plainer language, have to to with my usb 2.0 hubs, or connections?
And if so, it is not a software issue, but rather a question of cables?
And if the hardware problem, whereever it lies, be corrected, I would be able to resolve the DMA issue?

here, try this method for fixing DMA then. take your time with it as mistakes in Regedit are baaaad :)
Quote: Run REGEDIT. Go to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
It has subkeys like 0000, 0001, 0002, etc. Normally 0001 is the primary IDE channel, 0002 the secondary, but other numbers can occur under certain circumstances. You have to go through these subkeys and check the DriverDesc value until you find the proper IDE channel.
Delete MasterIdDataChecksum or SlaveIdDataChecksum, depending on whether the device in question is attached as master or slave, but it can't actually hurt to delete both. Reboot. The drive DMA capabilities will be redetected.
Open Device Manager again and check whether the device is now actually using DMA mode. If so, congratulations, you've made it (at least until the next time Windows disables DMA).

Hi Creaky
i have just joined and have had no problems with Nero until recently. I have done as was previously suggested uninstalled and reinstalled DMA(in primary and secondary controllers) and also went and reset compression in DVD Shrink to 4360. I then burnt 3 successfully. But this morning got the following error. The log follows, hope you can suggest something:

- EDIT OUT your serial number - it will be stolen/or has been by now
Quote: Nero API version: 6.3.1.18
- that's old - latest is 6.6.0.15. Uninstall Nero, uninstall completely using Nero's Clean Tools- " http://www.nero.com/en/Clean_Tools.html ", install 6.6.0.15 but do NOT install Nero's InCD program, it interferes with standard Nero.
Quote: Recorder: <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108> Version: 1.14
- your burner's firmware is out of date - version 1.20 dated 28/04/05 is here (Firmware teaches your burner about media/newer media/burn speeds.) - http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/download.jsp?dir=/files/support/dvrup...
Quote: DiskPeripheral : QUANTUM FIREBALLlct15 20 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On
- DMA is OFF on the hard drive, that NEEDS fixing. Follow this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm
Quote: Physical memory : 111MB (114160kB)
Free physical memory: 36MB (37056kB)
Memory in use : 67 %
- 'fraid you must be joking! - you NEED more memory, you can barely run windows with 128MB, never mind dvd burning as well
Quote: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108\H1 T0 : Queue again later
- lots of these errors, will be due to the other problems i've mentioned
Quote: Burn process failed at 8x (11,080 KB/s)
- no chance!, your lack of memory coupled with the problems i've mentioned will not allow 8x burning. i always do 4x and recommend 4x but you'll be lucky to make 4x burning. Get more memory. By the way a 100% successful burn from Nero (maybe other programs too but i only use Nero) does NOT i'm afraid mean a successful, playable movie.

- this isn't right, there's nothing listed here. hmmm, hopefully following the DMA fix suggested above will fix that..
