I have (I suppose ) an onboard soundcard C MEDIA AC97 and XP Pro. Recording with any app creates an exaggerated dynamic range (ameliorated partly if you drop the input level) and extraneous pops not present when the recording is made. An email group I belong to has a few people with this set up and problem. I read the noise could be mismatched memory but I have not changed anything on my system which is 1.6 Mhz 256 Ram. Before I go buying a "proper" soundcard is there anything I should do to check there is not some system problem. Thank you
