Extracting and compiling DVD clips

Hi,

I am trying to put together a DVD of clips comparing the output of different encoders. I thought I had cracked it by using DVD Shrink to create the clips (using "no compression"), and then to re-author them as a DVD. However, a number of threads have suggested that even with "no compression", DVD Shrink does affect the quality of the DVD stream in some mysterious way:

Obviously since the whole point of the DVD is to compare small differences in quality, I want to make sure that what goes on the DVD is exactly the output of the encoder. Can anyone recommend a method (preferable involving freeware) for extracting clips and then re-authoring them that won't require a degree in DVD-engineering?

You can compile new DVD from peices of other disks with DvdReMake Pro. It will not reencode anything. You may need to insert couple of commands "here and there" to have disk playing. But it is fairly easy.
