is there anything that you need to do before burning a downloaded PS2 ISO, because all I get is an error message saying that the dvd is not proper ps2 format

thats like asking why wont a copied ps2 game work, anyway what are you using to create your image. use dvddecryptor to do it.

Along with swap magic you will need one more modification. Like an aftermarket flip top. Something to keep it from resetting when you swap discs.
DVD Decrypter is the best all around program for backing up games.
And no, backing up Swap Magic is a worthless effort because what would you do with it? You would need a REAL version of Swap Magic to load the back up copy, like any other back up.

whats a flip top??? i have a slide card if thats what u mean

the slide card can be used instead of an aftermarket flip top, but the flip top is just easier.
Check out what i mean here if you have not seen them.

It replaces your original top. That way you use the draw to put in Swap Magic, then just use the flip top to swap discs. Simple.
But using swap magic and a slidecard, your back ups should still work if you are doing it correctly. It may also be the media you use. You can get those "Invalid PS2 Disc" messages when you use cheap media. The PS2 seams to hate them.

I'm using Sony DVD-Rs.
And that link you put up doesn't work.
How expensive are flip tops???

ok, what you have to do is search the web (google) and look for the DVD LOADER. This loader helps your swap magic (like a boost) to read some game that this version can't read.

use the swap magic, then swap the disc with the dvd loader(using the tool to swap), then you'll have to insert the swap magic again. when you replace the dvd loader with the swap magic press eject on the ps2. after you ps2 reads the swap magic for the second time you're ps2 will ask you for the dvd copy.

1. boot swapmagic dvd and swap for dvd loader by flip slide, press x
2.dvd loader boots, press x , press x(return you to dvd loader screen)
3. press eject and swap for swapmagic dvd, press eject to send back in
4. wait for it to say ps2 dvd in lower left of tv screen, when that appears press x
5. wait for it to say swap by ea method, at this prompt swap for soul calibur backup and press x
6. your backup should now boot

I had the same thing doen too me untill i seen the video on how to swap my disc with the slide tool, and now i can do it everytime, so dont forget to close your ps2,
so you slide it to the right
Open and inset disc
Close it
slidetool to the left and now its closed
hit x should start right up!
as for buring them i use dvd decrypter
read: iso
burn: .mds
use maxell 8x dvd+ cause i got a ver 7 and it dont play dvd- very well!

if you have slide tool use that. DONT USE BUTTER KNIFE if you cant use slide tool, you wont be able to use butter knife goto google and search there is heaps of sites showing you how to use your swapmagic.
