Multiple narrowed images with green bars in between (DivX played in WMP. It plays correctly in DivX Player)

Please someone who knows how to solve this problem, HELP!

I'd like to keep original sound and display subtitles. The result was always the same problem when played in Windows Media Player: the image appears as if it was shrunk to 3 or 4 repeated narrow vertical stripes with also narrow vertical green bars in between them. When I change the zoom from 100% to 50% the image appears normal for a while, but in slow motion and then it shrinks and multiply again.
I followed the DivX manual thoroughly and encoded 3 DVDs changing the DivX Codec (I used the 5, 4 and 3)so as to find out a solution. I've noticed that one of the DVDs showed 2 different data for Frame Type (Interlaced and Progressive)and Video Type (FILM and NTSC) alternating at DVD2AVI preview.
I hope the information above helps to find out what the problem is.
