Slow downloading speeds after updating Azureus

I'm running Azureus on my G4 Apple Mac Powerbook and it was running fine with high download speeds until I updated the version of Azureus I was running. Since then, I've been getting speeds of no more than 25kbs whereas before I was getting 50+ all the time. I'm still getting the green smilies, although sometimes (especially for really popular files) I'm failing to pick up any seeds even if there's 1000+

Another forum site suggested I update my Java, but I'm running the latest one for MacOS 10.3.9. To run Java 5, it says you need Tiger which I haven't got round to buying just yet.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Make sure it isn't firewalled or something. Check the settings and make sure it isn't being limited by a plugin. Other than that, I don't see where it could go wrong. Unless the peers can't take your bandwidth...:P

Urm do you have a router, if so change the settings on that. It could be to do with a firewall as Razor said.
