I just tried to put in a DVD-r Movie (the manchurian candidate) and it didn't work. I have recieved my Swap Magic 3.6 dvd, but it was cracked, so I had to RMA it. I'm waiting for my replacement now, but am curious whether it will work as my ps2 can't play a dvd-r movie.
It is true that it is ripped from DVD-DL to DVD-r but it works fine on my dvd player. Will my ps2 work with backups?
the ps2 probably doesnt like the type of disks you are using,so before you panic and start stressing because your burnt games dont work,dont use those disks for games,maybe try some other brands and get a movie to play first

they are average type disks,which may not work on the ps2,so i wouldnt be to worried just yet
try and use some other type of disks
the sample packs you can buy are always useful
movies they should work fine for. I have a few Imation DVD's with games on them and they work ok but are not the best quality discs around for sure.
And in case you did not know your movies will play on your PS2 without any boot discs like swap magic.
You just need the boot discs for games.
TDK, Philips, Verbatim, Ritek G04 should all be good for games.
