do you think that making small umd disks was a good idea and why do they have the cases anyway?

the umd disks may hve been used to 1.hold more memory and 2. looks more high-tech than cartriges, the cases are for protection a small scratch could easil ruin a psp disk

Unless I missed some new development, you can't really play backups on the psp yet. You can get an app to rip isos from the umds using your psp and a usb cable, and they've got a launcher to run one of the game from a memory stick but that's it. As far as playing backups on mini dvd's, it isn't possible yet. If someone wants to trash some umds and try and get it to work, I would be interested in the results, but don't hold your breath.

there is still a sony "label" that the PSP looks for on every disk. Just like the PS2 you wont be able to run a burned version of a game until there is some sort of mod chip or swap. Cant see swap happening just from the way you enter disks...but i could be wrong

Yes, you can make isos of the games. Been able to do so for a while. The problem isn't making a copy of the game, it's getting the copied game to play on the psp.
