Hey,

I have had my swap magic dvd 2.0 discs for a while now, but is it worth buying the 3.6 version? thers some games i cant play with the 2.0 so maybe they'll work with the 3.6?...i have a version 4 ps2...is the 3.6 only for the slim ps2's? or is it really a BETTER one to have? i really wanna play star ocean but it doesnt load with my 2.0 (well it does but the battles are too slow to play)... any help would be greatly appreciated!! =)

I have a 2.0 and have had zero problems with it. I've even played the Star Ocean game you're talking about, but I use DVDLoader v7 to boot it up to get rid of the slow down. If you haven't, check out swapmagicfix.com and burn DVDLoader to a DVD. You use it in between swap magic and the game.

Thats the order that you'll be loading disks.

3.6 has a few more features like NTSC or PAL conversion on the fly, but all in all, if your 2.0 disks are still working fine, then just use the DVDLoader on slower games and keep it until they come out with a Swap Magic that deals with dual layer.

the difference is the 2.0 has a lot more work involved in backing up some games. It does not have screen mode selection (PAL or NTSC) so games have to be patched or converted.
also not as many games have to be patched and rebuilt as with 2.0
I have 2.0 and 3.0 and never use 2.0 anymore because 3.0 just works better
2.0 may work but 3.6 is clearly better.

okay it worked the very first time i used it with suikoden 3...but now i cant get it to work anymore -__-

Great to hear this, cause i just got 3.6 and same!, i already have 2.0 got it thinkin it would play 'n load games a bit better than 2.0, but i'll hav teh try it out first!.

Ah did someone say it loads 'em in PAL/NTSC!? :), cool if thats true wont have to do any more frickin pathcings!. GREAT!

DVD Loader was generally used with 2.0
I do not know anyone using it with the higher versions of Swap Magic.
Once i bought 3.0 i never used it again.
And yes, since 3.0 (and i suppose the newer 3.6) has screen mode settings on the main loading screen (default is set to normal)
You can change it between PAL & NTSC if needed. There will be a little part of he screen cut off on the bottom which can get annoying if there are needed items there (like health or ammo counts) but it will play them.

Have you tried loading your games with just Swap Magic 3.6 by itself?
Have you tried pressing the square button (special load feature) rather than the X button when loading them. This is generally the same as DVD Loader would do.
You should have much better luck loading games with 3.6 then with 2.0 that is for sure.
