your only problem may be that the laser will wear out sooner due to the extra heat for long hours with no cooldown time.

the recommended time is 52hr 27min and 41sec,give or take a few secs.(that was a joke).i leave my ps2 on alot and dont know if it really has a bad effect on it,mainly because my ps2 runs fine.i dont have a lab to do extensive testing on a ps2 to see if leaving it on for prolonged periods of time has an adverse affect on it.but it would be the same if you played a game like a marathon runner for 12hrs straight(ive actually done that a few times).

Geez!, if you could find a game that can keep ya wanting to play it that much good, but i find no games are that fun to have on for that long heck :P. Yow wouldn't like teh drop it!, you can kiss it goodbye if that eva happened! its mainly plastic which is cheap and nasty, $ony use cheaper parts to cut costs.
As it goes for the slimy they get alot hotter than the better cooled original ps2 with da fan!!. Whereas the slim jes sit dere cookin.

i was wondering that too, i leave mine in stadby all the time when it is not in use (slim PSTwo)
But as far as it running a game i just would not reccomend running it for a day and 1/2 without any cool down time. Your just looking for trouble like laser burn out.
P.S. why would you want to leave it on that long anyway, you can't possible be playing a game that long?

I use swapmagic, it may be a pain but if you love your machine enough to wana keep it last for a while, the heat wear vs PS2'slife should come before conveniance. A soloution for swapping pain, most games i have on my USB & IDE Hd and i load them from the drive with usbextreme. It saves a hell alot of time instead of havin to do swaps, and i use the MC exploit to boot into PS2menu and i start USBextreme from there, very easy and its a real time saver!. Worth a try if your sick of swappin all da time!.
But unfortunatley around 30% of games don't work from the HD.

Reminds me of when I first got a Sega Genesis before they had codes you could put in to continue games. I got all the way to the end of Spider-Man so many times without beating the Kingpin then started all the way over, lol. I think if you take the disc out and put a fan on it it will be ok but PS2s are well known for lasers buring out and they are the most "broken" item sold on eBay if that tells you anything. I am getting a hard drive this week so I can save my laser and make it last longer. My kid tripped over a chord made it fall yesterday I about died because all the work I've put into it and I even got a new wireless controller just so that wouldn't happen but the battery ran out and within five minutes, "it" happened. Bt it works still thank god. I swear though Sony knows about the potential hazards and intentionally does nothing because they want to sell more Slim units. They should have break away controllers by now and they don't. That's one thing I liked abot the XBox.

For USB Advance/eXtreme I used a WD400 in a USB2 enclosure. I installed games with the official Windows interface and used USB eXtreme Free Edition to boot them.
For HDLoader I am using WinHIIP to install games onto the WD400 in the USB enclosure. Then I transfer them to a Maxtor 120 DIAMONDMAX PLUS 9 6Y120L0. I boot with Fully Patched HDLoader.
