I downloaded a movie, after burning it to a dvd I tried to play it on my PS2, but it doesn't work, "No Data" message appears instead, does my PS2 need some sort of modification in its configuration settings to play movies ?

the ps2 will read most movies but not vcds, svcds or any other hybrid type and DivX, XviD etc.. is also not supported. The movie needs to be encoded properly. Try the movie in a standalone dvd player but it has to be in the dvd standard for the ps2 to read it.

Yep, what he said.

A lot of downloads are in various formats like mentioned above.
Get a free player called VCD Player
http://www.xequte.com/other/index.html
then you can test it on your computer, that player will play anything. If it works then you know it was just the wrong format for your PS2
Then you will have to have a program like Nero that will re-encode it to the proper format.

It worked on VCD player, so the problem is in the encoding as you say, can anyone post a tutorial on ecncoding movies properly so it can be played on my PS2 ? I have Nero, but don't know how to use to re-encode the movie to the proper format.
Thanks for your help.
My movie is DVDr.xvid by the way.
