Mpegs won't play on a standalone DVD player. Mpegs are not DVD-Video compliant. PCs don't care if it is non compliant.

Ypu need to "author" your mpeg using something like NeroVision Express 3, TMPGEnc DVD Author or Divx to DVD.

Try reading this thread it explains one software thatr will convert mpeg to dvd video (that is what is dvd compatable) look through the afterdawn software there are programs that will convert this file for you. Also you may be able to utilize Nero Ultra v6 to create a new VCD or SVCD I'm not certain but I think that it may do this conversion for you; you can only burn VCD or SVCD to regular CD not DVD. Hope this helps

There is no such thing as a DVD-R or DVD+R file. These indicate two different types of recordable DVD media.

To play in a stand-alone DVD player the files must be DVD-Video compliant.

As I said earlier, you must use an authoring or a conversion program to create the neccesary file structures. This will make your mpeg video compliant and playable on a stand-alone DVD player.
