Ok honestly, theres gotta be smart people out there that can include a file that tells the PS2 that its a PS2 game! Whats all this mod chip that and mod chip this, put this plastic thing here, buy this this this and this to play a back up game. I know theres someone out there who is smart enough to know how to burn a ps2 game on to a plain ol dvd and just stick it in the PS2 and it works like a charm. Someone please give me your comments on this!

I mean honestly. Its so silly. The whole world is saying right now "Oh no, its impossible to play backup games without a mod chip, I guess Ill have to go and buy one". We shouldnt fall for these tricks! Some one out there, definitley knows how to make a backup game for PS2 without any mods at all!

Hahaha yer funny, yeah its called Swapmagic! software booting and is the only other way besides having a modchip, plus your machine isn't modified any way unlike with modchip. All u need to do with SM is swap it for the copy and 'WALA'! it works!.
V9 PS2 scph-50002, SM 3.6
Exploit: PS2Menu
50+ PS2 games
HDL 0.8b, and a dying 40gb hd.

@helloyoda
it probably can be done, but NOT with convential pc burners
PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs.
So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.
With the boot-discs (swap magic) you need a 'tool' to open
the tray without pressing eject for the backups to work.
So if you have a disc presser good luck! Swap magic has to be real becuase it contains the BCA to trick the ps2 into thinking it is real, you cannot use a backup of swap magic for this reason

why not try it yourself. If it needs inventing then go ahead and invent it.
I suppose that the people who make swap magic could if they wanted to. All they would have to do is distribute the file that makes the games load as some sort of a patch. Then you could patch the ISO with the file so that it would play.

True. I have the new slim PS2 (model 7000) their is no tray, just a top that flips open. Dont I just need the swap magic and not anything to hold the eject button?

Where can I get a disc presser? Are they expensive?

you still need a slimtool or magic switch or aftermarket flip top. I know there is a flip top on it, but when you open it the PSTwo resets. You need one of the above so theat it will not reset and you can swap discs.
they are pretty cheap. if you are in the US or Canada you can get a Ghost Switch for $7 http://www.clearxbox.com/site/pages/cat_ps2acc.html

WOW now I get it! That seems pretty easy! So the Ghost Top replaces the top that flips open when you want to put a game in the slim PS2 right? Ok so I would get a Ghost Top and then just the swap magic (I wouldnt need the slide card or anything b/c I have the ghost top) With the ghost top, how do I put it on? I read the site but its not specific. Do you unscrew the ps2 top and then screw on the ghost top?

Also the ghost top and swap magic 3.6 is made for the new slim ps2 7000 models correct? Cause the site you put on this page shows these versions but I dont see the new slim ps2 model 7000 on it for combatability:
Identify what version PS2 you have
The version 1, 2 and 3 PlayStation 2 all have 10 screws on the bottom of the unit.
SCPH30001 v1 = Serial# begins U1
SCPH30001 v2 = Serial# begins U0
SCPH30001 v3 = Serial# begins U1 Date 1A
SCPH30001 v3 = Serial# begins U2 Date 0D
The versions 4 through 10 PlayStation 2 all have 8 screws on the bottom of the unit.
The 4 and 5 also have the electrical warning stamped on the bottom of the PlayStation 2 case.
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U0
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U1
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U2
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U3
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U4
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U5
SCPH 35001 v4 = GT3 Edition
There are 3 different motherboards for the
SCPH30001R - Version 4, 5 and 6
SCPH30001R v5 or v6 Motherboard
SCPH39001 v7
SCPH50001 v9
SCPH50010 v10
Maybe Im reading it wrong.
