Hi guys! I just found out from a charter emplyee that all the servers down here look for P2P use. Three strikes you're out. Also, THEY REPORT us to the FBI. This sucks!
How can one use a P2P anonymously where even your server doesn't know? I am going to lose an important part of my life,a freedom I relied on.
Peerguardian doesn't work.

you can't be totally anonymous on a p2p system...that undermines the way they work. if you're that hard up, go back to burning what your friends have for your own collection, or mail stuff around the country to a network of buddies. works for me :-)

I have Charter and have never had a problem with file sharing. I think the employee just said that to scare you. Most ISPs wont and cant give out information about you or your acount due to privacy laws.
The only way is if law inforcment gets the information with a warrent for your acount and activity. The ISP wont give that information up unless strong armed by the law.

a little bit of protection can be provided by switching around which programs you use and where you might search for torrents at. just like a criminal with plastic surgery, it makes you a little harder to track :-)

wWhat about invisible browsing...is it effective? I have a program that will allow me to do so and it tells me my external IP is different but I'm not on the outside looking in. What do you think?

@uniique1
Charter is a major cable service in the USA part owend by Dan Akroyd the actor. They service digital cable and high speed cable modems.
By the way thanks for serving for our freedom.
Hope things go good and god bless.
