What software are you using? What brand blanks are you using? Do you have AnyDVD running in the background? If not, try that. That's the ONLY way I've been able to backup some movies.
Good luck!

As JVC said try running AnyDVD in the background w/ Xcopy. You can downlpad a 21 day trial period from here: http://www.filepedia.com/video_software/dvd_rippers/anydvd.cfm
or a slysoft.com (the makers). AnyDVD is just a driver that makes the programs used to copy think there is no protection.
I personally would get rid of Xcopy - I did about 1 year ago. There are better programs that handle the newer protections. Decrypter is one of the best, Shrink and a newer one DVD Fab Decrypter. All can be downloaded from aD.
Here's some links for some guides:

BTW was the movie(s) your having problems with? Error message?

@kellyw

As binkie7 states dl the 21 day free trial of AnyDVD will help you with these movies, however I suggest you dl the trial of CloneDVD with it, and use this. I have found that the ripper free version of Xcopy will work with AnyDVD but I have not been able to get the Xcopy that has the ripper to work I too stopped using it. IMHO Xcopy sees the disk as unencrypted and will not copy it, because Xcopy does not have the ability to copy what it percieves as a copy. However, maybe it will work for you, good luck :)

Hey arnie have you used DVD43? I was wondering if DVD43 is as good as AnyDVD it seems since DVD43 is free and AnyDVD isnt and people use AnyDVD why that is? I have never used AnyDVD before and had no need for DVD43, but I guess my question is AnyDVD better than DVD43?

@megabyte

I have tried DVD43 but had a problem with conflicts on my computer so just went with the AnyDVD and it works fine. Many others though have no problem with it. Can't say if AnyDVD is better but I like using it with CloneDVD to do editing of TV episodal disk cause you can preserve the menus.

Yeah I have had the same problems with DVD43 and I guess my DVD writer only until I uninstalled it did my errors in my windows GPF's go away.
