I have a Plextor 716-A and I am using dvd decrypter to burn onto Memorex DVD-R. The movies will play in my computer but not in my playstation 2. The funny thing is that I have played the same brand of burned disc in my player and it worked from a friend. Is there anything I can do to check if the problem is from my computer of from my Playstation?

If I understand you correctly, you're trying to use a burned movie in the PS2. By default, the PS2 will not load a DVDr without a little assistance. Any burned dvd you put in there, whether it be a game or a movie, will give you the same red screen asking to please insert a Playstation 2 formatted disk unless you have something to boot your PS2 to.

The screen comes up "Reading Data" then after a few minutes it says "NO DATA" and does nothing. But I have played a burned dvd in it before so I don't know why it does'nt work now.

Memorex DVD-R

When you say a little assistance what do you mean?

I haven't really heard good results on Memorex from people in the past. Verbatim and Sony are what I stick with.

I meant "little assistance" as in something to boot your PS2 up with... like a swap magic or mod chip. I could be totally wrong tho and the PS2 doesn't need that for movie disks.

I'm not really sure as I have several other DVD players and dont use my PS2 for movies. I'm sure someone else here will chime in.

Memorex are horrible.
Try some Verbatim, TDK, Philips
And try +R discs
I do all my movie on Philips 8X DVD+R discs and they all work great.
Also get a better program more suited for doing movies.
DVD Decrypter works great for games, but for doing movies you really need more options then just burning it stait up like a gmae. Since movies are mostly over 4.7GB
Get DVD Shrink. It is free and works great for movies.
It will let you copy the whole disc by using commpression, or let you take out things you won't need like the extra's, subtitles, languages you won't use, extra audio chanels, or just copy the main movie only (for best picture quality)
