I guess I've missed something, but I can't figure out how to save to disk image. I see instructions for making a disk from a disk image, but I don't see how to create that disk image in the first place. I have Nero Express 6. Thanks.
Look for the drop down list that says "Current Recorder" and select
Image Recorder from the list. Then you can save the image as an .iso file or Nero image file or whatever. In Nero Burning ROM it isn't hidden away. The drop down list is at the top of the form all the time.
After a while I got tired of fighting through menus that make things "easy" and decided to do all my format conversions, adding chapters, whatever, with other software. Then I just use Nero Burning ROM to burn the disc. Life is simpler that way. At least it is for me. :)
Thanks, MilesAhed, for the reply. I do have some other software which I can use. I just thought it should be easier to use Nero all the way, but I can't even find that drop-down list you mention. I guess my NeroExpress OEM doesn't have it.
Hmm, it may be set up a bit differently. You might download the Nero Burning Rom demo edition and see if it works for you. Along with the guides here, another good source for pointers to freeware video software and guides is www.videohelp.com. I used to use the Nero converter to burn .AVI files as VCD because it was fast but after a while too much of the stuff I downloaded produced VCDs with audio out of sync due to framerates and stuff. So it's prolly worth it to use stand-alone programs to do the conversions for the most part. Depends too if it's
"watch once and erase" or if you want to keep the disc. :)
There are two locations in Nero Express where you have an option to select the Recorder or the Image Recorder for the Destination.
When you first launch Nero Express, at the very top right of the window is a drop down box where you can select the Recorder or Image Recorder to burn too. It's right above the text 'What would you like to Burn?
Or just above the option for Data.
The next location you can select what to burn to is in the 'Final Burn Settings' window. This is the very last window in Nero Express, just before you click on the BURN button. And this is where you see the optoin for 'CURRENT RECORDER:' and you use the drop down box next to it to select the Image Recorder.
All versions of Nero Express have these to options, be it OEM or Retail build.
Thank you, Craig, for your reply. Upon opening Express, I see the drop-down box with the heading of "What Would You Like to Burn?" but there's nothing above those words to select. And what is just above the option to burn for data are the words "What Would You Like to Burn?--the heading for the drop-down box.
As for the the 'Final Burn Settings' window, I will do a project and see if the option for 'CURRENT RECORDER:' is there accompanied by a drop down box for selecting the Image Recorder.
It might take awhile, but I'll report back. Thanks again.
Very strange. The only reason why there would not be a drop down box, would be if there was only one choice to choose from. But that could only be possible if there was no Recorder being detected by our Nero Express software, so it would then default to the Image Recorder and not offer you a drop down box.
Can't wait to here what you find when you get to the Final Burn Settings window. :-)
Well, Sir, I have a story to tell. I followed your second method and found the current recorder option as you said. I saved to My Documents. When I opened that saved item in My Documents, I got Nero's "Image Recording ... Write a premastered image" window. I clicked "Next" and got "Save Image File." I was out of my depth at this point, so I just closed the window. Up came the NeroExpress window. I closed it and quit Nero. Then I re-opened Nero, clicked on NeroExpress and what do you think? The window that came up had the drop-down box where I could select Recorder or Image Recorder to burn to--right above the text 'What would you like to Burn?' where you said it should be. I closed NeroExpress, then reopened it, three more times and each time, the box for selecting recorder or image recorder was there. An hour later, I came back to the computer and did the same with the same result. All is well. Go figure. Thanks for all your help.
