does anyone know if i put 2 sound cards in my computer that i'd be able to play my klipsch 4.1 and my brother's logitech 5.1's off of just one computer?

not sure what would happen or how it works but if its possible can someone please explain the process?

thanks

yes you can, its a pretty common thing. Back in my DJing days thats exactly what I did. I DJ'd from a computer in my DJ rack, and had two separate sound cards and two separate winamps running simultaneously then would crossfade with and external mixer. I have heard that using two of the same make/model sound cards can cause conflict however. So as long as they are different they should work. You will just have to go into your Audio settings in the control panel to select which one is the default one. Then on whatever application you use (like Winamp or whatever) make sure you specify what card to route the sound to in the settings.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

dope - thanks for the info - so you're saying if i wanted to do this it wouldn't work with movies and shit like that, but it would if i opened up the same playlist on 2 winamp's at the exact same time?

no, it will work for anything, but keep in mind that whatever program you are using you will have to specify which one to use. You can change the card windows uses as the default one in the control panel. so say you are playing music from winamp on card 1 (the default one.) Well when you go to open a movie in WMP, it will want to use that same card. So in WMP you will have to go into options and under the devices tab click speakers to select what sound card to output to. So you can use anything on your computer, as long as it has the option to specify which sound card to use
